My BioI grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and graduated from Stanford University in 1983 with a degree in English/Creative Writing. After five years in the Bay Area, seven years in Seattle, and six years in Claremont, California (meanwhile raising two children), my husband, Dave, and I settled in Boulder, Colorado, in 1997. I've worked at Delicious Living since 1998, assuming the role of senior food editor in 2001. I always knew I wanted to work with words, and I've always loved food, so now I feel I have the best job in the world. We live with our college-age son (when he's home) and high-school daughter in south Boulder, where we enjoy volunteering at their high school and watching them grow into amazing young adults. I adore living near the mountains; we regularly hike in the hills near our home (usually accompanied by our black lab, Lucy), and we try to get in as much skiing as possible in the winter. I travel often to Costa Rica, my mother's native country. I speak Spanish passably well, although I'd love to become truly fluent. I'd also like to do more traveling, especially throughout Latin and South America — great food, for one thing! Aside from cooking and eating, I enjoy reading, gardening, and playing guitar and singing at our little Boulder fellowship, Hillside Church of the Savior. I am a member of the Colorado Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier and an alumna of the Stanford Professional Publishing Course, July 2008. |
